What a day to remember!

On Monday, 28th July 2025, the Department of Physiotherapy, University of Benin, hosted its 5th Induction and Oath-taking Ceremony, and by all standards, it was the best one yet!

One of the most touching moments of the ceremony came when the compere reminded the graduates that they may never all be together again. Suddenly, β€œHow Are You My Friend” by Johnny Drille played softly in the background. What followed was two full minutes of hugs, tears, and an overwhelming wave of emotion.

A Moment During the Two Minutes of Hugs

Funny Vibes and Class Moments

The Ad Astra class didn’t just graduate with certificates. They graduated with personalities! The hall was filled with laughter as a playful recognition session brought light to the characters that made the class unforgettable.

Kunle stole the show, earning titles like β€œMost Friendly,” β€œClass Footballer,” and β€œNoisiest.” Bright Xchange was named β€œMost Generous,” and everyone agreed that Segun, David X, and Nathan might just be β€œMost Unlikely to Practice” (no shade πŸ˜…). Islamiyat and Success were hailed as the go-to content creators, while Philomena shined as the class entrepreneur. From fashion, the β€œBest Dressed Male” was Richard, and to punctuality, or lack of itπŸ˜‚ β€” shoutout to Happy. Every personality had its spotlight.

A Guest Speaker Who Left Us Inspired

The keynote lecture was delivered by none other than Professor Sam Chidi Ibeneme, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, Uburu. Known for his work with the International Institute of Sports Research, Professor Ibeneme was introduced with a biography so rich, it left the entire auditorium in awe.

His address to the graduates was insightful and deeply motivating, pushing them to see beyond graduation and embrace the real-world impact of physiotherapy in healthcare systems across Nigeria and the world.

Recognizing Academic Excellence

In addition to the playfulness and vibe of the induction, it was also about honouring those who have their best academically.

The Celebration in Summary

Akin Deko Auditorium During the Ceremony

What made this induction truly unique was the fact that awards didn’t stop at the inductees. Guests, Professors, teaching and non-teaching staff were also recognized for their roles in shaping the department of Physiotherapy in UNIBEN and the profession at large. And the vibe? Top-tier. With what many called the β€œbest DJ at any induction ever,” the auditorium was filled with jolly spirits.

We raise our glasses to the Ad Astra Class of Physiotherapy (set of 2023/2024).πŸ₯‚
